Cinemalaya 2006 Best Picture
Just want to share the good news.
Mike Sandejas’ “Tulad ng Dati” won Best Film at the recently-concluded Cinemalaya 2006. It also garnered Best Sound and Best Editing.
Needless to say, we’re all ecstatic. Actually, Saturday night already felt like a winner. There we all were gathered at the CCP Main Theatre for the 6:15 screening of “Tulad ng Dati” – all the band's and production crew’s families, friends, colleagues. Although I wasn't able to meet them, the family of Teddy Diaz was also in the Main Theatre with us.
When the lights went down and the guitar strains of “Tulad ng Dati” (the song that inspired the title) came in, people erupted into applause. Ang galing! It felt like a concert. Almost everyone was teary-eyed at the end of the film. Sorry for the abbreviated account. Try to catch it when Cinemalaya goes to UP next month (August 7-10, UP Film Center).
some pictures from Saturday night
since it's a Dawn movie, we honored the night by doing our own The Dawn pose
Just minutes after the last of the credits rolled off the screen
Fran and JB with Epie Quizon and Ricky Davao
At syempre pa, me after movie cocktails.
For a more detailed account of what went down during the awards night, head on to Niña’s LJ account. In true indie film tradition, Nins (who happens to be Mike’s sister) did double, nay, multiple duties for the film – as on-cam talent (VJ Niña), production staff (wardrobe stylist), indefatigable documenter (behind the scenes photography), buzz creator (via her high-profile LJ and The Dawn’s multiply account) and a host of other things.
I'll add my own awards night photos tomorrow.

yup, ganoon talaga ang buhay - pagbabanda or otherwise. ang important lang is to take it easy and not get lost in the whole process. and remember, lahat naman ng mga tao kung saan ka umiikot ngayon ay mahal ka so they'd understand if you put your foot down every now and then. :)
Yeah, I heard good things about Tulad ng Dati movie. SIempre, either sa Philippine Star lang or Inquirer lang nabasa ko. COngrats!
