did they exchange notes?
was just wondering if Kate Winslet and Elijah Wood talked about how it was working with Peter Jackson while shooting Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Wala lang. (in case you didn't know peter jackson directed Kate Winslet in Heavenly Creatures, a film based on a 1962 brutal murder committed by 2 teenage girls in New Zealand)

we saw eternal sunshine last week and i am unashamedly in love with it. The production design is so lush, the script so cleverly-conceptualized and actualized. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet gave brilliant performances. I'm not much of a film critic (although i once harbored the illusion) so i can't say much except to say that it really struck a deep chord in me, not just in terms of the execution.
Haven't we always wished after a very painful break-up that we can just erase the memory of that incident, that one particular person resposnible for breaking your heart into a million pieces leaving you to pick them up one by one? Well, eternal sunshine gives us a glimpse of that reality. After finding out that ex-live in girlfriend Clementine (Winslet) had her memories of him erased, Joel (Carrey) decided to undergo the same process only to realize midway into the process that "in allowing bits of Clementine to disappear, he's also erasing chunks of himself."(S. Zachareck, salon.com)It's a funny, sad, engaging movie and you guys have to see it.

As i was telling my husband when we left the cinema, there really is no short cut to mending a broken heart or psyche. We're doing disservice to ourselves by not facing the pain head on. we're only delaying our healing process. I know this is easier said than done and I definitely can understand the pull of short-circuiting the whole thing, to get pass the numbing pain in the quickest time possible. But the sooner we confront our issues, the sooner we overcome them. Besides, if you decide to ignore it today, it will come back in some other form to haunt you or bite you in the back.
